For SaaS founders
Outbound for SaaS founders, without hiring an SDR
The practical way to do outbound as a SaaS founder is to let software do the finding, research and first drafts, and keep the judgment and the conversations for yourself. That is how FoxKnock handles founder-led sales: it finds companies that look like your best customers, researches them and drafts each email, you approve it by default, and your own mailbox sends it. Start free, and read the limits below before you count on it to get your first B2B SaaS customers.
500 free credits, no card, and every email waits for your approval by default.
What gets in the way today
I am the SDR, and I am also everything else
Outbound is the first thing to slip when a release runs late. Prospecting, research and writing each take hours, so outbound happens in bursts, then goes quiet for a month, and the pipeline goes quiet with it.
I do not know who is ready to buy
You have a few early users and a hunch about who looks like them. A list of titles at the right company size does not say who has a reason to talk this quarter, so many emails land when the buyer has nothing to answer.
My name and my domain are on every email
A wrong job title or an invented compliment goes out under your name, from the domain you also use for customers and investors. You want help with research and the first draft, not a tool that sends on its own.
How it works for saas founders
- 1
Paste your website and your first customers
Give FoxKnock your URL (or a short description if you have no site) and the domains of your best early customers. It writes a playbook and proposes three to five segments you can edit. When you ask, it runs lookalike search from up to 10 seed domains. Add lost accounts as negative seeds.
- 2
Accept only the accounts that look right
Review the ranked list, with a score and the reasons behind it for each company. You pay only for results you accept, then research the few that matter. Every fact in a report shows its source and the date it was read.
- 3
Let Today and community radar find the timing
Each morning, Today ranks up to 25 accounts and says why now. Community radar scans Reddit and Hacker News on the schedule you pick for threads where someone asks for a tool like yours, and drafts a reply that you post yourself.
- 4
Approve, send from your mailbox, answer replies
By default, each email waits in your approval queue until you approve it, then goes out from your own mailbox inside the daily cap. Replies land in the AI inbox, sorted into 13 classes. You write back and mark meetings booked.
What you can count on
Product facts, not promises: each one is how FoxKnock works today.
- The Free plan is $0 with no card and 500 one-time credits, granted after you verify your email. At default credit prices that is enough to find and verify about 45 email addresses, if you spent all of it on that.
- Every specific claim about a prospect in an AI-written email must cite an evidence card with a source URL, a quote and a timestamp. A second AI pass blocks the draft when a claim is not supported by a fact or by your knowledge base. The check is AI-based, so you still read each email. Emails you write yourself are not claim-checked.
- FoxKnock sends only from your own mailboxes: Google Workspace or any SMTP and IMAP mail server, connected with an app password. Microsoft 365 is limited: Microsoft no longer accepts passwords for IMAP in Exchange Online and is retiring them for SMTP AUTH, so a Microsoft 365 mailbox may not connect or may not sync replies, and FoxKnock does not offer Microsoft sign-in.
- Sending defaults are 25 emails a day per mailbox (50 at most), a send ramp that starts at 8 a day, and an automatic pause above 2% bounces.
- Failed email lookups and incomplete research reports cost nothing, a hard-bounced address that FoxKnock found is refunded (10 credits at default prices), credits roll over, and an optional monthly spend cap stops spending.
- Starter is $49 a month for 5,000 credits, 2 seats and 3 mailboxes, with sequences, the AI inbox and community radar. There is no annual contract, and you can cancel any time from Billing.
Get your first B2B SaaS customers: a hypothetical first month
Take a made-up example: a two-person startup that sells billing-audit software to finance teams at SaaS companies with 20 to 200 employees. Three early users signed up without any outbound. The founder wants to win the first B2B SaaS customers from outbound, around product work and support.
Week one: founder-led sales on the Free plan
The founder works through four steps:
- Pastes the website. FoxKnock reads it, writes a playbook and proposes segments, which the founder edits.
- Pastes the domains of the three early users as seeds, plus one lost trial as a negative seed. Lookalike search returns a ranked list with a score and the reasons behind it for each company.
- Accepts 10 companies, finds one contact at each, and finds and verifies their email addresses.
- Runs one quick research report on the best fit.
FoxKnock uses Claude, by Anthropic, for its AI features, so text from your site and research is sent to Anthropic.
At default credit prices, 10 companies at 15 credits, 10 contacts at 5 and 10 verified emails at 11 come to 150 + 50 + 110 = 310 credits. The research report adds 100, so the week costs 410 of the 500 free credits.
The Free plan is for judging the list and the research, not for sending: sequences, the AI inbox and community radar are listed from Starter.
Weeks two to four: cold email for startups on Starter
Now the founder wants to send, so the month moves to Starter. Here is one month at default credit prices (they may change):
| What | How many | Credits each | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Companies accepted from lookalikes | 60 | 15 | 900 |
| Contacts found | 60 | 5 | 300 |
| Work emails found and verified | 60 | 11 | 660 |
| Quick research on the 20 best fits | 20 | 100 | 2,000 |
| AI-personalized first emails for those 20 | 20 | 20 | 400 |
| Community threads with a drafted reply | 20 | 25 | 500 |
| Total | 4,760 |
The other 40 contacts get a template email the founder wrote. Templates cost no credits but are not claim-checked.
The table assumes every lookup works. Failed lookups are free, but extra drafts and re-checks of addresses older than 14 days add credits. If you skip research and use templates only, 5,000 credits cover roughly 160 accounts at 31 credits each. Credit prices can change, so check pricing before you plan a month.
The daily routine
Each morning the founder:
- Opens Today to see who to contact and why now.
- Works through the approval queue (A to approve, E to edit).
- Reads the community drafts and posts the good ones by hand.
- Answers replies.
Sixty first emails a month, plus follow-ups, are well within what one mailbox can send, so volume is not the limit: credits and attention are. For the sending numbers, see how many cold emails per day.
Which plan fits a founder
- Free ($0). Judge the list and the research quality before you pay anything. One seat, one mailbox.
- Starter ($49 a month). The plan for a first real month: sequences, the AI inbox and community radar, 5,000 credits that roll over, 2 seats for a co-founder and up to 3 mailboxes.
- Growth ($149 a month). Move up for more features and credits: signal monitors and automated plays, website visitor identification (company-level, and it needs a Snitcher or IPinfo key), one-way sync to HubSpot, the REST API and 20,000 credits.
You can set a monthly spend cap in Billing (it is off until you set one), and spending stops when it is reached.
What FoxKnock will not do for you
- Promise replies. Reply rates swing with your offer, your list and your timing, and FoxKnock promises no reply rate and no inbox placement. Analytics shows your own numbers per sequence, segment and signal, with low-sample warnings. At 60 emails a month, treat early numbers with care.
- Approve for you. By default every email waits for you. Auto within limits can be turned on per sequence only after at least 50 emails you approved one by one, with under 10% edited and under 5% rejected. Nothing is ever approved by a timer. The only other message that can go out without a per-message approval is an opt-in reply with your own booking link to meeting requests, which is off by default.
- Post in communities. Community radar finds the thread and drafts the reply. You post it, as yourself, and disclose who you are.
- Send on LinkedIn. A LinkedIn step becomes a task with a drafted note, and you send it. FoxKnock does not scrape LinkedIn and does not use Apollo's API.
- Carry your compliance. It has built-in GDPR tools: country rule packs, lawful-basis confirmation, a privacy-notice link in first emails (you supply the notice), suppression lists and erasure. You are still the sender, and a postal address is required to send.
- Decide your positioning. It writes from your site and your playbook. Check the "Never claim" items it proposes, because the email writer and the claim checker treat them as hard limits.
FoxKnock launched in October 2026 and has no customer stories to show, so every example on this page is hypothetical.

Frequently asked questions
Can one founder run outbound without an SDR?
Yes, if you treat the software as help rather than a replacement. FoxKnock does the finding, research and first drafts. You still approve each email by default, post any community reply yourself and answer interested replies. Expect a daily routine of reviewing a queue, not a hands-off machine.
How much does outbound cost a SaaS founder on FoxKnock?
You can start at $0: the Free plan has 500 one-time credits, and Starter is $49 a month with 5,000 credits. At default credit prices, one accepted company, one contact and a verified email cost 31 credits (15, 5 and 11), and research starts at 100 credits per account. Credit prices can change, so check pricing.
What reply rate should I expect from cold email for startups?
No honest tool can promise one, and FoxKnock does not. Reply rates swing with your offer, your list and your timing, so any number quoted without those is a guess. Analytics shows your own reply, positive reply and meeting rates per sequence, segment and signal, with low-sample warnings so you do not over-read a small batch.
Can I do outbound if my SaaS has no customers yet?
Yes. Onboarding works from your website or a short typed description, and Describe mode turns a sentence such as "Series A fintechs hiring a first SDR" into a search. Lookalike search needs one to ten seed domains, so use it once you have a few early customers you would like more of.
Does FoxKnock post on Reddit or Hacker News for me?
No. It never posts to any community. Community radar finds relevant threads, scores them and drafts a reply in one of three styles: helpful, soft mention or direct. You read it, edit it and post it by hand, and the in-app rules ask you to disclose your affiliation.
Can I send cold email from my own domain, and does it work with Microsoft 365?
Yes, from your own domain through Google Workspace or any SMTP and IMAP mail server, connected with an app password. Try connecting yours on the Free plan before you plan around it.
How many cold emails a day can FoxKnock send?
By default, 25 a day per mailbox, with a hard maximum of 50. A new mailbox follows a send ramp, and sending pauses automatically above 2% bounces. FoxKnock cannot promise inbox placement. For the wider picture, see how many cold emails per day.
