The problem

What gets in the way today

  • Specs with no source

A number nobody can trace is a guess. When a buyer spots one wrong spec, they stop trusting the whole listing.

  • Listings fall behind

New models launch and old ones are discontinued, and a catalog kept by hand is out of date within months.

  • Event dates drift

Shows move, get postponed or skip a year. A calendar nobody re-checks sends readers to the wrong dates.

How it works

How it works for directories

  1. 1

    Set up your niche

Describe it, and FoxKnock proposes categories and spec fields. You approve and edit them before anything runs.

  2. 2

    Build the catalog

Brands, dealers, models with specs and events, each value with the page and the quote it came from.

  3. 3

    Review and lock

Unverified values are marked for review. Correct one and it is locked, so no refresh overwrites it.

  4. 4

    Feed your site

Export to CSV, JSON or Excel, or pull changes through the API and webhooks as records update.

Product facts

What you can count on

Each one is how FoxKnock works today, not a promise.

  • Your catalog is private: categories, fields, records and edits are never shown to another customer.
  • Every published value cites a source URL and the quote it came from. A field without one stays empty.
  • Specs come from manufacturer pages first. Third-party spec sites only back values up and are never bulk-copied.
  • Upcoming events are re-checked daily from 60 days before they start, at no charge.
  • Each record is priced up front and charged only when it is verified.
  • No generated reviews, invented ratings or synthetic content anywhere in the catalog.

In depth

Directories: the full guide

A directory is only as good as its data. FoxKnock researches your niche into a catalog of brands, dealers, models with the specs buyers compare, and the trade shows where the industry meets, with a source page and a quote behind every published value.

You set the categories and fields, review what is unverified, and correct anything you know better. Your corrections are locked, so a later refresh fills gaps around them instead of overwriting them.

What directory data should look like

Buyers use a directory to compare. That only works when every spec can be traced and every listing is current. When you compare catalog data sources, check three things:

  • A source on every value, so you, your editors and your readers can check it.
  • A clear line between verified and unverified, instead of a confident number that nobody checked.
  • A refresh that respects your edits, so the corrections your team makes survive the next update.

FoxKnock is built around those three. A value is published only when its quote is found on the cited page. Anything that fails the check stays in the catalog marked unverified, for your team to confirm or fix.

Keeping the catalog current

Catalog records go stale at different speeds. Brand profiles and dealer lists change slowly, models change with each product cycle, and events change every year. FoxKnock refreshes each on its own schedule or when you ask, and flags a model whose product page has disappeared as possibly discontinued.

Many products are one model in several configurations or under regional names. FoxKnock keeps them as one family, a base model and its variants, so your site shows one product with its options rather than a dozen near-duplicates.

Getting the data into your site

Export a niche with its sources to CSV, JSON or Excel, or connect your site to the REST API and listen for webhooks when a model is added or updated, or an event is found or changes. The API and integrations page covers keys and webhooks.

Turning the catalog into revenue

The brands, dealers and exhibitors in your catalog are also the companies that buy listings, sponsorships and ads. Any of them can go to Discover as a lead and from there into cited prospect research and outreach you approve before it sends.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the catalog data come from?

From public web pages, the manufacturer's own product pages and brochures first. Every published value shows its source page and the quote it came from. FoxKnock does not copy other spec databases in bulk, and a value it cannot source stays empty.

What happens to values my team corrects?

A corrected value is locked. The record shows your edit instead of the old citation, and later refreshes fill in other fields around it but never overwrite it. You can unlock a field to let the next refresh take it over again.

Can I use the images and brochures on my site?

FoxKnock links to the manufacturer's images and brochures rather than copying them, because the rights belong to the manufacturer. Check the manufacturer's terms before you show them on your site.

How do I get the catalog into my own website?

Export it with its sources to CSV, JSON or Excel, or read it through the REST API and receive webhooks when records change. API access and webhooks come with the plans that include the API.
